Easter Brunch Options in Chennai

If there’s one thing that all expats in Chennai can agree upon, it’s that when it comes to lazy Sunday brunches, the big hotels have got it covered. Now, with the Easter weekend just around the corner, a number of special Easter brunches have been prepared by various hotels across the city for those of us that forgot to book a cheeky long weekend away to Sri Lanka or Thailand.

Here’s a roundup of what’s on this weekend.

1. Crowne Plaza

Crowne Plaza is offering an Easter-inspired poolside buffet this Sunday. Special attractions for the kids include the Easter egg hunt, a visit by the Easter Bunny and afterwards they can take a splash in the pool. Food-wise, the Easter brunch has all the usual grills, pastas and roasts but also includes specially prepared traditional Greek salad, asparagus prosciutto tart, grilled ocean fed barraumudi, fondant potatoes, minced vegetable patties, and black olive in orange belvedere sauce.

2. Hyatt Regency

The Hyatt is going all out with its Easter celebrations with something happening in many of its popular restaurants.

Easter Hampers at Biscotti

3. Grand Chola – Madras Pavillion

4. The Leela – Spectra

5. Tryst

This year the Overseas Women’s Club is organizing Easter activities for the kids at Tryst. Children under the age of eight can take part in the Easter egg hunt, the egg colouring competition and decorating their own cookie. The event takes place on Saturday, 22nd April (so you can still go to one of the Easter buffets this weekend!) between 4pm and 6pm. Tickets cost Rs 500 each.

There is a country-wide ban on any establishment serving alcohol within 500 metres of a national highway. Many hotels and restaurants in Chennai are affected by this so if you want a beer or some wine with your Easter buffet, call the hotel to find out if they will be serving alcohol.
